Teaser: This Month’s Summary

Reporting across November demonstrates a potential for established trends to continue into the next year.

Africa continued to dominate reporting, with Nigeria remaining a focal point. Across North America, we continue to see virtual kidnapping proliferate as a modus operandi of note, whilst Mexico maintains its status as a country of concern. As is now becoming an established trend, reporting in Asia was dominated by cases of kidnap and extortion linked to the gambling industry, with the Philippines establishing as a focal point in this regard. Reporting of kidnap cases in the Middle East continues to be driven by political developments; whilst Europe based kidnap cases were predominantly rooted in low-level criminal enterprise.
