Tracking & Monitoring Case Study
At approximately 12:00 BST on the 3rd October 2019, an employee at the Paris Police Prefecture stabbed and killed four colleagues and injured another two. Our Virtual Security Operations Center (VSOC) became aware of this incident at approximately 12:24 BST via numerous social media posts.
Once the situation was assessed, an alert was broadcast through SI24 at 12:30 BST with all details known at the time. Anybody in the incident impact radius automatically received a push notification via the SI24 mobile app once this alert was input into the platform by our VSOC team. This alert would have also shown on the home screen of the SI24 mobile app if the person was nearby.
People outside of the incident impact radius would have still been able to find out about this attack through the SI24 mobile app ‘Alerts’ tab.
Media outlets such as Sky News, Le Parisien News, and Le Point News only started to break this story 8 minutes after our VSOC had broadcast details of this incident via SI24.
Our VSOC also distributed a common operating picture (COP) to all our clients which were impacted by this incident. This contained more detailed information about what was happening and what assets could be potentially affected. This COP was updated and re-distributed as new information was uncovered.
This rapid response was made by possible by our VSOC team – who always have their finger on the pulse of what’s happening around the world.
